DREAMBONES
Dramatis Personae

as introduced:

Prologue
S'Seekio Re' - Pilot of a small Imperial courier that is destroyed in what was perhaps the last action of the War of Extermination - 3 million BC.

Chapter I   -  Deepscout
Eric Rice - Pilot of the independent scoutship Wander'n Star, out of Sol Haven, presently under contract to the Haven Corp.

Chapter II    -  Highlanders
Tol Kassan - Envoy to the Highlands from the Saarian Empire; a ruthless, powerful man with far-reaching ambitions.
Catain DaWolf - Clanmaster of Westhall
Jaxx - Representative of Freetown, a trading town situated on the edge of the Blight and dominated by clanless Highlanders.
Stentor - The King's Man, a capable leader and the Highland King's right-hand man, a physically powerful man and absolutely dedicated to his leige.
Syn DaNeel - Recent inheritor to the title of Clanmaster of the house of Neel and Neelhold.  Currently in command of the rotating garrison of Allkeep.
Calin `the Axe' Santao - Cousin to Syn and eldest officer of the Neelhold infantry since the disaster in the Greendeep that took the lives of Syn's father and many other ranking Neelholders.

Chapter III -  Problems
Fleetclaw - A 6 1/2 meter ‘dragon’ of the Misten Marsh.  A warrior of an intelligent reptilian species, the Rissan, his race is known more to humans by its fearsome reputation than by close association.  Because of this, with the exception of the major waterways, the Misten Marsh is largely unexplored by the human inhabitants of the planet Dirdan.  Fleetclaw is the dedicated and sometimes exasperated mate of Dreamer.
Dreamer - Every bit as fearsome in appearance as her mate, Dreamer has earned her name by `thinking too much'.  She spends much of her time in the upper canopy of the marsh, watching the stars.  Lately, a new star has attracted her fascination.  When it `falls', she is convinced it is the return of the `Firespear' of her kind's oldest legends, and persuades her mate to accompany her on a trek into the `Sacred Lands' (the Blight) to find its resting place.  "Sassla" is the spoken equivalent of her name in `Tongue', the ceremonial spoken language, or 'Truespeech' of the Dragons of Dirdan.

Chapter V - A 'Demon' Drops In
Raan Sana DaNeel - Syn's wife, currently in charge of Neelhold.  A niece of the Highland King.
Das DaNeel - Captain of Neelhold's undermanned guard.  A young man just learning the ropes.  Syn's cousin.
Cadin & Maas - two of Das' men.

Chapter VI - Dragon's Nape
Tannin - A true Rissman of the eastern plains.  Captain of the Neelhold Company of Riders.  He rides Fear.

Chapter IX - Strange Encounter
Warden-of-the-Lesser-Ones - A Riss of the eastern plains.  The Riss are a sentient race that has fallen on hard times.  They are often mistaken for lesser riss, their devolved cousins, and find it convenient to not reveal their existence to most people.
Sulker-in-the-Tall-Grass - A Riss of the eastern plains.
Handor - a Rissman - Sulker's Rider.  Young and brash, but a bit slow on the uptake, he is nevertheless handy with healing herbs.  Neither he or Sulker do much communicating with one another.
Cren - A Rissman - Warden's Rider.  Older than Handor and wiser in the ways of things Riss.  Unlike Handor, he 'talks' to his mount.

Chapter X - Friendships
Rask - Ironmaster of Neelhold

Chapter XII - Diversion
Fourclaws and Fear - are revealed to be sentient Riss, hidden in plain sight among the lesser riss used as mounts by the Highlanders.

Chapter XIII - Sail the Deep Salt
Kell DaNeel - an enthusiastic young crewmember of the landship, 'Highlander'.

Chapter XVI - Court of the Saar
Yndal - A nomad prince, captured at the same time as Jaxx and Rice .
Hasbold Sindla a'Saar - "Fourth Saar of the Empire of Saar, Lord Admiral of the Saarian Sea, Conqueror of the Midlands, Guardian of the Dreambones, Guiding Light of the Realm, and Imperator of all He surveys." - Which means he's the Bad Guy in charge of all the other bad guys.  He has strange dreams, and that is bad news for his neighbors.

Chapter XVII - “The Dragons Awaken”
Ens DaSan - King of the Highlanders – nominal central authority of the independently minded Highland clans.
Pak - A Freetown leader

Chapter XVIII - Stowaway
Yorick - Rice’s ‘familiar’ taken human form

Chapter XIX - Birdmen of Dirdan
Tassa - Jaxx’s much lamented lost love, daughter of a prominent Longfork merchant and thought dead, but apparently, not so much.

Chapter XXI - Breakout
Jayn - Captain of the Windgap Riders
Hagan - Captain of Dragon Company, King's Own Riders
The Rescued Woman - A person of unknown origin and importance
